What is Drupal?

Drupal is a modular free and open source content management system, sometimes also described as content management framework, written in PHP and distributed under the GNU General Public License. So far so good! What “Drupal” really stands for is a rapidly growing system, in terms of popularity, usage and community support, that is turning into one of the trendiest ways to DO THE WEB.

Why Drupal?

There are several ways to make a point.
One would be that more than 7 million web-sites, including hundreds of the top ranked, run on Drupal. Actually, no one knows the exact number of all web-sites that run on Drupal, but depending on the browser used, apparently the weather forecast, the ozone levels over Nepal and Christina Aguilera`s number of Facebook followers, the number results anywhere from 60 million to 400,000 „powered by Drupal“ web-sites.
